Taijiquan-A Kind of Widespread Martial Arts

 

 

 Everyone can practise Taijiquan.

A relaxed, gentle kind of physical activity, Taijiquan conforms to physiological laws and can help people keep fit. Taijiquan can be performed by men and women, the young and the old, the able and the disabled. There is no special requirement for facilities, so long as there is the spacious ground. It does good to health care and medical treatment, producing  positive effect in curing and preventing diseases.

The essence of Taijiquan is concentration. The mind is free from extraneous thoughts, seeking tranquility in movement, using meditation rather than strength. All these benefit the activity of the brain. The essentials of Taijiquan are exercising continuous breathing internally and the muscles, skeleton and skin externally. Regular practice of Taijiquan coordinates organ activities. 
 
Taijiquan is a branch of the traditional martial arts. As a means of keeping fit and preventing and curing diseases, it has been widely practiced among the people since the 16th century. Its popularity has further increased with adoption of a simplified set of exercises in 1956. Forming an important part of the treatment often prescribed in hospitals and sanatoriums, Taijiquan has proved its efficacy in treating chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and neurasthenia.
