"Cultures of China,Festival of Spring" Warmly Welcomed in Sydney

A special global art tour featuring classical Chinese songs and dancing performances received warm hail and applause from touched audiences, when held in the State Theater in Sydney on Saturday night.

The grand show named the "Cultures of China, Festival of Spring" made a good comforting entertainment to home sick local Chinese people with classic Chinese songs and dancing performances during the Spring Festival, the most important Chinese festival for family reunion and celebrations.

With over 30 artists, these performances bring together many leading performers. The performance features some of China's finest singers including Dong Wenhua, a household name in China. With Dong's famous songs like "The Story of Spring", the audiences' patriotic emotions were pushed to the climax.

"Her song reminds me of my childhood, and makes me feel that my family is not so far away," Feng Xiaojing, a 27 year-old overseas Chinese, told Xinhua with excitement. Feng has spent over 6 years in Sydney as a student. "At this time, I really wish to be in China and enjoy the Lunar New Year celebrations with my parents," she said, "Dong's song offers me a sense of belonging."

Adding to the spectacular show, there are also Chinese ethnic minorities' dancing performances presented by the China Central Folk Song and Dance Ensemble, boosting the diversified dancing arts of Uigur, Tajik and Dai ethnic minorities living in China.

Sponsored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of China's State Council, the Australian Chinese Performing Artist's Association presents the "Cultures of China, Festival of Spring". The special global art performances have been successfully toured in more than 10 major foreign countries during the Chinese Lunar New Year season.

"We have hoped to extend new year good wishes to Chinese communities in Sydney through songs and dancing performances from our homeland. Obviously, we made it,"Xu Yousheng, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of China's State Council said.
