About Zhejiang Sci-Tech University Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU, formerly ZIST) is a prestigious university in Zhejiang province,China with distinctive features and individual advantages. It provides programs in fields of science, engineering, liberal arts, economics, management and law with engineering being its main focus. ZSTU is located in the “International Garden City” Hangzhou, a city renowned for its history, culture and economical performance. It stems from the Sericultural Academy founded in 1897, and now has a history of 100 odd years. It was named Zhejiang Institute of Silk Textile, Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology at different stages and since May 2004, approved by the Ministry of Education, its name has been changed into Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (Pinyin:Zhejiang Ligong Daxue). ZSTU consists of 17 colleges (departments) and offers 47 Bachelor’s degree programs, 30 Master’s degree programs and 2 Doctoral degree programs. Now, ZSTU has a total of 24,000 full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students, and about 8,000 adult students for further education. ZSTU employs a high-level faculty and staff of 1,700, with 470 associate professors, 130 professors, and 2 academicians working full time in the university. In recent five years, ZSTU has won over 150 research awards, among which 3 are national, namely, 2 second prizes of the National Scientific and Technological Invention Award and 1 second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and over 50 are of provincial or ministerial level. |
