University Profile
The Institute covers an area of 1,441,600 square meters with a floor space of 642,100 square meters. It consists of 13 schools, 1 department, and 1 Technical Center. Courses are offered in 8 major academic fields: engineering, science, literature, arts, economics, management, law and medicine. There're 45 undergraduate degree programs and 19 master degree programs in the university. Presently, there are 15,734 full time students on the campus, including 14,808 undergraduates and 330 post-graduates.
The Institute possesses an abundant of scientific research facilities, strong teaching staff, as well as favorable studying environment. There're now 4 Special Provincial Subjects, 1 Provincial Experiment and Teaching Demonstration Center, 58 Laboratories and 220 Bases for Graduates' Practice in the institute. Since 2000, the institute has carried out 4 national and 18 provincial teaching reform programs, and 14 programs of experimental technology research of provincial level. The strong teaching staff consists of 968 full-time teachers including 118 professors and 296 associate professors. Teachers with senior titles take up 44.6% of the whole faculty and 605 teachers, that is, 65.2% of all the teaching staff have master's or doctoral degree.
There are 2 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 member of the Chinese Academy of Science, 1 Chair Professor of "Mount Tai Scholar", 3 commissioners of HEI Professional Teaching Committee of the Ministry of Education in the institute. There're also 14 Experts enjoying Special Allowance of the State Council, 7 Nationally Excellent Teachers, 3 Candidates of the National New Century Millions of Talents Project, 1 Candidate of New Century Talents Project of the Ministry of Education, and many other outstanding teachers with magnificent achievements.
Shandong Institute of Light Industry has also been very active in international exchanges and cooperations. Over the years, it has established a broad international network for educational cooperations and has signed exchange agreements with over 21 universities or research institutions in many foreign countries as Canada, UK, Finland, Germany, Australia, the U.S.A., Japan, and Denmark.

Our institute can also provide overseas students with lectures according to the students' special
requirements. We give lectures on Geography, History, Religion, Culture, Customs, Philosophy, Literature, Poetry, Drama, Art, Traditional Chinese Music and the History of Chinese Civilization.
2.Short-term students (one month or longer)
(1) Courses: The same as the courses for long-term students.
(2) Application Procedures: Short term students may register at any time in the year, the rest of the
requirements are the same as that for long term students.
Tuition Fees
Long term:
A. Tuition: A long-term (one semester or longer) student pays U.S. $800 per semester.
B. Lodging Expenses:
Twin share-standard room (two students share one room with bathroom, air-conditioner, TV and telephone ) costs US $4 /person/ day; single room (also with bathroom , air-conditioner, TV and telephone) costs US $7 / person / day.
C. Registration Fee: US$ 30 / person.
D. Course Materials: The student pays for his textbooks, reference books and tapes at current
price.
E. Food and Medical Services:
The student himself pays for his food and medical services. Within a week after registration, students should pay all the tuition for a semester or one academic year as well as the lodging expenses for one semester.
Short term:
A. Tuition: Each student pays US$200 each month .
B. Lodging: Twin share-standard room (two students share one room with bathroom, air-
conditioner, TV and telephone costs US$3.5/person/day, single room (also with bathroom,
air-conditioner, TV and telephone) costs US$6/person/day.
C. Registration fee: US$30/person.
D. Course Materials: The student pays for his textbooks, reference books and tapes at current
price.
E. Food and Medical Services: The student himself pays for his food and medical services.
