SYSU teams won prizes in the 2nd National Graduate Contest
Recently, the final competition and award ceremony of the 2nd National Graduate Contest on Smart-City Technology and Creative Design were held in Wuhai University. Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) won excellent organizing prize, excellent tutor prize, one first prize, one second prize and three third prizes.
This competition is one of the National Graduate Innovative Practice Activities, and SYSU is an organizing unit. The competition is hosted by China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center and Children & Youth Science Center of China Association for Science and Technology, and co-hosted by National Educational Guidance Committee for the Graduate of Engineering, China Strategic Alliance of Smart City Industrial Technology Innovation and China Strategic Alliance of Audio Video Coding Standard (AVS) Industrial Technology Innovation. About 3,500 postgraduate students of 1,461 teams from 172 universities and research institutes registered for the competition. Through online evaluation by experts, 141 teams from 118 universities and research institutes entered the final competition, among which 29 teams participated in the GeoStar Cup Video Analysis Challenge.
SYSU teams won prizes in the 2nd National Graduate Contest on Smart-City Technology and Creative Design.
Seven works of four SYSU teams entered the final competition. In the GeoStar Cup Video Analysis Challenge, the team (consisting of Guo Chunchao, Hu Xiaojun, Hu Bin and Liu Xiao, instructed by Prof. Lai Jianhuang) won first prize in the abnormal behavior detection task; the team (consisting of Feng Zhanxiang, Mei Ling, Wang Xiao and Lai Mingzhi, instructed by Prof. Lai Jianhuang) won second prize in the face recognition task; the team (consisting of Li Hanhui, instructed by Prof. Luo Xiaonan) won third prize in the single target tracking task and third prize in the cross-camera human identification task; and the team (consisting of Liang Zhujin, Ding Shengyong, Liu Lingbo and Chen Tianshui, instructed by Prof. Lin Liang) won third prize in the face recognition task. Meanwhile, Prof. Lai Jianhuang won the excellent tutor prize in the competition.
During the competition, SYSU participants also attended the smart city technology forum, visited companies and exhibitions, and communicated with students from other universities and research institutes.
