JI Visiting the Showroom

Eventually arriving at the meeting room, President JI was invited to give a speech about the current international context, especially the significance of the Belt and Road Initiative. As far as JI was concerned, China is now facing various opportunities as well as challenges on the international stage. The rigid system can no longer adapt to the circumstances, while the new science haven’t been completely built yet. The Belt and Road Initiative is born under such a situation. It’s considered by JI as an essential drive for domestic development. Under the initiative, more highways, railways and air routes will be established, and Chinese regions will further integrate resources, policies and markets to connect with the outside world. The President believed that the initiative can further integrate China, providing an excellent opportunity for Guangdong’s economy to boom. During the speech, many illustrative examples were given by the former Vice Minister which benefited the students and researchers attending the seminar.

At the end of the speech, JI outlined GDUFS’s research projects and the establishment of think tanks made for foreign affairs. He acknowledged the efforts that have been made, and expressed his own approval. In JI’s opinion, academic studies and diplomatic experience complement each other. The President acknowledged GDUFS’s efforts in helping Guangdong “Go Global,” while suggesting a cooperation between Collaborative Innovation Centre and AFDC.
