Why Pleasant Goat And Big Big Wolf Becomes So Popular?

There is an old saying in China: interest is the best teacher. If you want to learn Chinese, you need to love it at first. Maybe you can just start with Chinese movie, cartoon and Chinese song. Watching movie is a very good way to learn Chinese, so if you want to learn Chinese, you can watch Chinese Kungfu movie, like Jacky Chan, Jet Lee and so on. When you are watching Chinese movie, you can listen to their pronunciation and see the Chinese subtitle. So is cartoon. All of this can be your motivation to learn Chinese.

Since Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf was first shown in 2005, it has been shown on more than fifty channels at an incredible speed. Not only are children crazy about it, but adults may also be attracted, so that the audience ratings of this cartoon rose up to 17.3% which none of other cartoons before could reach. Apart from it, the film version acquired the highest box office in the history of the original home-made cartoons. Why can this cartoon which probably seems stupid and childish become a hot cake among children and adults? Some data and research by social scientists show that the three major reasons why the cartoon becomes popular were: popular dialogues from the Internet, the Chinese characters of two-facedness and various propaganda and marketing strategies.

One reason this cartoon can beat the others is that it quotes many popular words known by the young. With the swift development of the Internet, many classical words are spread among youngsters, such as “Your mother calls you back home to have lunch.” and “I am not eating noodles but loneliness.” It abandons the dull and modular plot of traditional cartoons. Instead, it makes good use of the fashion culture and mass psychology to combine the teaching with entertainment. So learning Chinese popular words is a kind of fashion.

Another reason it differs from others is that the Chinese characters don’t have the absolute good or bad personality. Many people are fans of Big Big Wolf and Lazy Goat because they have their special personalities and lovely features although they have some shortcomings. This pattern is similar to the real society where nobody completely represents devil or angel. It makes every character in this cartoon become lively and true beings with weaknesses and strengths.

Besides, a more necessary reason that the cartoon can spread among audience of wide age range is that the company which creates it has used various propaganda and marketing strategies. In this commercial society and information age, advertisements and mass media take an important role in the process of marketing economy. The cartoon is shown on television, at the same time, various related products are provided to the markets. The company even has cooperation with KFC and offers little toys to the customers. Consequently, we can see the images almost everywhere.

All in all, it is really meaningful to learn Chinese from this cartoon in the cartoon and movie production. If you are interested in learning Chinese, you can learn more materials in http://www.echineselearning.com
