HIT honored Advanced Student Group, Individual and Excellent Student Workers

In memory of the “December 9th”patriotic student movement that occurred 80 years ago, HIT held a commendation meeting in the in the auditorium of the main building on the evening of December 9th. Advanced student group, advanced individual and excellent student workers during the year of 2014 and 2015 were honored. At the same time, the report of advanced deeds with the theme of “the power of a good example” was held. The party secretary of HIT Wang Shuquan, president Zhou Yu, the party executive vice secretary of HIT Xiong Sihao, vice president Han Jiecai and the discipline secretary of HIT Cai Jujin attended the meeting and presented the awards to the representatives.

In 2015, the student work of HIT sticks to taking the people-centered and moral education as the fundamental task, holds to the HIT standards of talent development and insists on the education of socialist core values as the main line, so as to increasingly improve the scientific, refined and normalized level of student work and better serve the development of students. As a result, the ideological and political education of college students presents a healthy development. 47 merit class models, 38 merit student models, 40 outstanding student leader models, 24 outstanding full-time and part-time student worker models, 98 merit classes, 97 classes of good study environment, 2790 merit students, 770 outstanding student leaders, 7 outstanding foreign students and 179 outstanding full-time and part-time student workers were commended at the meeting. At the same time, Qu Yongcuomu, a student from the School of Computer Science and Technology, who has won the honor of Heilongjiang provincial college student of the year of 2014 and the character of moral models, Yuan Fengpei, a student from the School of Mechatronics Engineering and the “Sunshine V Plan” voluntary group of caring for migrant children from the School of Civil Engineering were also commended at the meeting.

After the meeting, 6 advanced groups and individuals gave the report of advanced deeds with the theme of “the power of a good example”. They are Exmet Burlading from the School of Mechatronics Engineering from northwestern China, who has won a postgraduate recommendation, actively helped minority students from Xinjiang to achieve their hopes and interpreted how struggles can change a person’s destiny by his deeds; Song Yang from the School of Municipal and Environmental Engineering with the hope of “recreating the blue sky and clean water of our country”, who has made many achievements in scientific research and led his classmates to form a class with good study environment; Zhang Yi, the counselor of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, who shoulders the responsibility of being the guidance for the ideology of students and serving for the healthy development of students and works in obscurity at the front line of student work; Jing Jufu, a doctoral supervisor and the homeroom teacher of 1409101 of the School of Materials Science and Engineering with the belief “practical work and teaching impartially”, who has been the homeroom teacher for 3 years and whose class is always the best class in his grade; young elites sticking to the standards of HIT and aerospace spirit changed from ordinary students lacking practical experience; the first micro-nano satellite team formed by college students in China to research satellites; and the class of 1311101 from the School of Science, who has created “three-self study model” and won the champion of China Undergraduate Physics Tournament on behalf of HIT and whose students have the habit of taking notes and join in scientific innovation activities.

Peng Yuankui, Assistant President, gave a speech. He points out 3 hopes and requirements for the students. First, we should adhere to our ideals and beliefs, bring honor to the spirit of patriotism and always integrate patriotism and personal development together. We should also integrate patriotism with the good traditions and spirit of HIT and core socialist values. More importantly, we should change patriotism into practical action of “welcome 100 anniversary with first class university”. Second, we should make contributions to our country through hard study, bring honor to the spirit of responsibility and follow the belief of “study, virtue, discernment and sincerity”. We should always regard “serve our country” and “scientific power” as our mission and regard good study as a responsibility, and we should also blend “the standards of HIT” into our behaviors, working and knowledge. Third, we should dare to be the first, promote innovation and entrepreneurship and closely seize the pulse of the era of “innovative development”. At the same time, we should set up a sense of innovation and entrepreneurship and actively integrate into the trends of innovation and entrepreneurship, so as to be outstanding innovative talents needed by our country.
